A Theological Book Study: From Christendom to Apostolic Mission
In this short read, James Shea reminds us that as a Church, we can no longer rest comfortably in the idea that we are immersed in a Christian society by which someone might more naturally be guided to God. Rather we must seek to understand anew how to actively evangelize in a secularized culture through personal encounters and authentic witness, akin to the early Church.
Themed for the upcoming World Mission Sunday on October 19th, this book study discussion will cover strategies for the Church to re-engage a society that has lost its shared moral and spiritual framework, providing a roadmap for a renewed missionary spirit and addressing the challenges of a post-Christian environment. In our discussions, we will also look at how to evangelize in a cross-cultural environment drawing lessons from the mission field around the world.
This theological book study will be led by Scott Johnston, Tricia Bølle, and Fr. Isaiah Mary Molano, OP of the St. Francis Xavier Lay Missionary Society,
